Who are the Trustees?

RS Pension Trustees Limited acts as the sole trustee of the RS Group Pension Scheme. The Trustee has overall responsibility for the running of the Scheme. The Board of RS Pension Trustees Limited consists of six trustee directors. Four of the trustee directors are appointed by the Company, with two trustee directors being elected by the members of the Scheme for a term of three years.

Regardless of whether they are appointed by the Company or elected by the Scheme members, the trustees work to the same basic duties which can be briefly summarised as:

  • Always acting in line with the Trust Deed and Rules and in the spirit of the Pension Regulator's codes of practice
  • Always acting in the best interests of all Scheme beneficiaries
  • Always acting impartially
  • Always acting prudently, responsibly and honestly

The Trustee has explicit responsibilities as detailed under the Code of Practice for Trustee Knowledge and Understanding and can be summarised in the Trustee Responsibilities document.
